'BtoB' Announces New Editor, Other Promotions
NEW YORK, June 24 /PRNewswire/ -- BtoB Publisher Bob Felsenthal today announced several editorial promotions at the magazine.
Published by Crain Communications Inc, BtoB magazine is the only publication dedicated to integrated business-to-business marketing. Read by 100,000 b-to-b marketers, every issue is filled with the game-changing strategies and tactics marketers need to succeed.. BtoB also publishes Media Business Magazine for business publishing executives. Circulation is 45,763.
John Obrecht has been named editor of BtoB and its sibling publication, Media Business. He joined BtoB predecessor Business Marketing as managing editor in 1998. He formerly worked as a business editor at daily newspapers in Chicago and San Antonio and as a state capitol reporter in Little Rock, Ark.
Obrecht succeeds Ellis Booker, who is stepping down after 10 years as editor of BtoB to pursue other ventures.
"Ellis has done a great job of helping expand the role of BtoB from a traditional print publication to one now very involved in all channels of communication to our audience, including many newsletters, webinars, events, virtual trade shows and, of course, our website. About his decision to leave Crain Communications Inc after 10 years as editor of BtoB, Booker said, "I saw a chance to take all that I've learned about business marketing, technology and the media business directly to the marketplace. And it's comforting to know that I leave BtoB in good hands."
Kate Maddox has been appointed to the new post of executive editor of BtoB. Her responsibilities will include overseeing editorial content for BtoB's in-person and digital events, as well as continuing to report on the b-to-b industry. Maddox joined BtoB as senior reporter in 2001 after serving as content chairman at ad:tech. Prior to that, she held editorial positions at Crain Communications' Advertising Age and Electronic Media.
Sean Callahan has been named executive editor of Media Business, a new position, and will take a greater role in the editing of content for the monthly publication, which is distributed to a select audience of business media professionals. He joined Business Marketing in 1998 after working as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago and Steamboat Springs, Colo., and most recently served as media editor of BtoB. He previously worked as a creative director at advertising agencies in Chicago and was founder and editor of Masters Athlete magazine.
Martin Musker has been named BtoB's design director-print and digital, also a new position. In addition to his longstanding role as design director of BtoB and Media Business, he is now responsible for the editorial look and feel of the publications' companion websites. Musker joined Business Marketing in 1998 as art director and was later promoted to design director at BtoB.
