BT TV Deploys StormTest® to Test and Assure TV Services
- S3 Group is BT TV's preferred supplier for test automation and video service monitoring
- StormTest has reduced product test cycle by up to 50%
DUBLIN, Oct. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- S3 Group, a global leader at enhancing the performance and service readiness of video platforms across connected devices, today announced that BT has significantly scaled up its deployment of StormTest® Development Center, and made S3 Group its preferred supplier for test automation and monitoring.
S3 Group's leading video test automation platform, StormTest Development Center, provides BT with advanced, end-to-end service validation capabilities that encompass CPE, headend, and Business and Operations Support Systems (B/OSS). It is used by BT's Design, Development, Quality Assurance, and Operations teams for component, system, and end-to-end tests. As the roll-out of new video services and features becomes more complex and time consuming, StormTest Development Center improves BT's test coverage, and reduces the time required for testing from months to weeks – reducing the product test cycle by up to 50%.
"StormTest Development Center allows us to validate the end-to-end customer experience, rigorously testing services prior to deployment, and ensuring they meet the highest quality standards when in production," said Greg McCall, Chief Operating Officer for television and content at BT. "Notably, it enables us to efficiently and reliably deliver rapid innovation, while improving the quality and stability of BT's video services."
"BT is a pioneer in IPTV, and we are very proud to enhance our role in their video deployments," said Philip Brennan, Vice President of TV Technology at S3 Group. "BT's choice of S3 Group as its preferred video testing and monitoring supplier for BT TV further demonstrates our continued leadership helping operators transition to a more automated means to assess video performance and service readiness."
Specifically, BT's teams leverage StormTest Development Center to test the BT Vision and YouView user interfaces, EPG navigation, new software build integration, the impact of billing changes, and to assess video performance in a live environment.
StormTest Development Center is the leading video test automation platform, validating services delivered to more than 140 million viewers, across 28 countries. StormTest Development Center is globally recognized for its ability to increase operational efficiencies and provide quality assurance of ongoing video service software releases across set-top boxes, gateway devices, game consoles, connected TVs, and mobile applications. In other customer deployments, it has been shown to increase regression test throughput by up to 600%, and accelerate performance testing by reducing the time required by up to 89%.
