PARK CITY, Utah, Jan. 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- IMDb, the #1 movie website in the world, presented Bryce Dallas Howard (JURASSIC WORLD, THE HELP) with "The IMDb STARmeter Award" last night in Park City.
This award recognizes stars who are breakout fan favorites on IMDbPro's STARmeter chart, which is determined by the actual search behavior of IMDb's more than 250 million unique monthly visitors worldwide. Col Needham, IMDb's founder and CEO, presented Bryce Dallas Howard with the award last night at IMDb's annual film festival dinner party, a private event presented by WhoSay, the leading celebrity and influencer content marketing company.
Bryce Dallas Howard premiered SOLEMATES, a short film she wrote and directed, in Park City yesterday. She most recently starred in Universal's JURASSIC WORLD and will next been seen in Disney's PETE'S DRAGON with Robert Redford in August 2016 and in The Weinstein Company's GOLD with Matthew McConaughey in Fall 2016.
"It is humbling to learn that so many people all over the world have searched on IMDb to learn more about me and the projects I was involved with in 2015," said Bryce Dallas Howard. "Thank you so much to IMDb for this award and for being the source I rely on when I want to learn more about anything related to a project or actor. I click on IMDb probably 10 times a day. That's not an exaggeration. It is where I go for all my information."
"As IMDb's #1 breakout star of 2015 as determined by the actual page views of IMDb's hundreds of millions of users worldwide, Bryce was the clear choice for an IMDb fan favorite award," said IMDb's Col Needham. "This intense level of fan interest reflects Bryce's unique ability to engage fans all over the world with her talents in front of and behind the camera."
IMDb most recently presented a STARmeter Award to actress Brie Larson at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), which was the first award she received for her standout performance in the critically acclaimed drama, ROOM. Just six days later, ROOM received the 2015 TIFF Audience Award. Brie Larson has since won a 2016 Golden Globe (Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama) for her performance in ROOM and also recently received a 2016 Oscar® nomination (Performance By An Actress In a Leading Role).
IMDb presented the inaugural STARmeter Award at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival when Olivia Wilde was honored for her work in the TIFF 2013 films RUSH and THIRD PERSON. Paul Haggis, writer/director of THIRD PERSON, joined Col Needham to present Wilde with the award at IMDb's TIFF 2013 dinner party. IMDb has since presented STARmeter Awards to Miles Teller for his role in WHIPLASH at TIFF 2014 and Jeffrey Tambor for his work in TRANSPARENT at last year's film festival in Park City, Utah. WHIPLASH writer/director Damien Chazelle and Col Needham presented the award to Teller at IMDb's 2014 TIFF dinner party. Tambor was presented with his award in January 2015 at IMDb's annual film festival dinner in Park City, Utah by TRANSPARENT co-stars Jay Duplass and Amy Landecker, as well TRANSPARENT's creator, Jill Soloway.
