Bruce Stroever to Retire from Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation

EDISON, N.J., Sept. 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation (MTF) today announced its President and Chief Executive Officer Bruce Stroever will retire on June 30, 2018, after three decades of service at the organization. MTF's Board of Directors has engaged a search firm to lead a national search for Stroever's replacement.

"It has been my pleasure and honor to work with more than 1,100 dedicated staff who are all focused on bringing life-changing tissue transplants to patients, and to providing world class service to the donation and transplant communities," said Mr. Stroever. "Moreover, having the opportunity to help bring some degree of comfort to a grieving family through tissue and organ donation has added a dimension to our work here that is hard to find elsewhere in the healthcare field. Our contributions to academic research, which now surpass $50 million, is another way we've been able to fulfill our mission. I know that MTF's new President and CEO will have the privilege of continuing the work we started in 1987."

During his 29-year tenure at MTF, Stroever led the non-profit organization to become the largest tissue bank in the world. Donated human tissues MTF received from more than 120,000 donors have been used to treat more than 8 million patients throughout the U.S. and more than 50 other countries.

Stroever also oversaw the development of successful tissue forms including DBX, Trinity Evolution & Elite and FlexHD. He steered the acquisition of other tissue banks, most notably American Red Cross Tissue Services Division, the Pennsylvania Regional Tissue Bank and DIZG, one of the largest tissue banks in Europe, as well as two subsidiaries, Statline and the International Institute for the Advancement of Medicine (IIAM).

In his more than 45-year career in life sciences and biotechnology, Stroever has been a part of many transplantation-related advisory boards including the NJ Sharing Network. He is a founding member of the Tissue Policy Group of the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) and served two terms on the AATB Board of Governors. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Bone Biologics, Corp.
