Bruce McBarnette Hosts Reception at Embassy of Slovenia
Bruce McBarnette teams with Beverly Burke and Edward Gingold to Benefit Disaster Victims
WASHINGTON, June 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Bruce McBarnette Esq., president of Summit Connection LLC; former TV anchor and current WEAA Radio news director, Beverly Burke; and Edward Gingold, Esq.; hosted on June 8, 2011 an art reception at the Embassy of Slovenia to help disaster victims in Japan. The event benefited Sukyo Mahikari, a Japan based spiritual organization, which is helping with disaster relief in that country. In March, Japan suffered a series of earthquakes, a tsunami, and the release of high levels of radiation from a nuclear plant.
The reception featured a beautiful array of diverse artwork created by artists Myra Maslowsky, the event curator; Ellyn Dana; Linda Lowery; Nancy Scheiman; Matt Sesow; and Isabelle Spicer. Face reader, Gail Romiti, entertained guests with her readings.
Masa Siftar, the Second Secretary of the Embassy of Slovenia greeted the quests and gave a presentation about the history and culture of Slovenia, which recently became independent in 1991. Slovenia, once part of former Yugoslavia, is located south of Austria, east of Italy, north of Croatia, and west of Hungry.
Bruce McBarnette, who has organized dozens of embassy receptions and founded Summit Connection LLC, said, "It is very admirable that Ambassador Roman Kirn of Slovenia made the Embassy available so we can help japanese disaster victims. I think everyone in the world was moved by the events in Japan. I am glad our face reader, Gail Romiti, and our artists also contributed to the cause."
The event sponsors were the Embassy of Slovenia, which donated its space for the event; the Washington DC Chapter of Sukyo Mahikari; and Summit Connection LLC, which is a real estate investment company owned by Bruce McBarnette. The Junior League of Washington, DC also provided volunteers.
