Seattle Orthopaedic Surgeon to Serve Leading Foot and Ankle Society

ROSEMONT, Ill., Aug. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bruce J. Sangeorzan, MD, vice chair of the Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine at the University of Washington, Seattle, has been named president-elect of the 2,027-member American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS). Sangeorzan will focus much of his 14-month term on strategic development of the Society, whose members specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system of the foot and ankle.

Sangeorzan earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. He performed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Wayne State and completed a fellowship in trauma and adult foot reconstruction at the University of Washington, Seattle.

In addition to serving on the AOFAS board for the last three years, Sangeorzan has participated in symposia, served as a faculty member for numerous AOFAS courses, contributed as a member of several committees and presented primary research at AOFAS meetings over the last 20 years.

Sangeorzan also has received the prestigious AOFAS Roger A. Mann Award for Best Clinical Paper.
