SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Elaine Beitler, BROWZ CEO was recently named as one of seven new board members for National Safety Council, and she isn't wasting any time advocating for the non-profit. Beitler is encouraging corporate donations during the holiday season to support NSC and their efforts to improve workplace safety.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics 2014 Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries, 4,821 people – more than 13 per day – died while doing their jobs. Implementing safety measures can change these statistics. For more than 100 years, the National Safety Council has been a leader in workplace safety. NSC indicates that employers who show they care about the safety of their employees see improved morale, increased productivity, lower costs and, most importantly, fewer injuries.
Beitler says, "At this time of year, we reflect and give back to organizations making a positive impact on the world. The National Safety Council supports the workplace with the tools, resources, and training necessary to reduce workplace injuries and preserve human life. As a member of the National Safety Council's Board of Directors I feel a great responsibility to further the work of this organization. During this season of thanks, I'm encouraging businesses of all sizes to make a generous donation to support the work of the council."
Though timely, Beitler's advocacy isn't unusual. In reference to the formal appointment of the board, President and CEO of NSC, Deborah A.P. Hersman said, "Our new members are safety leaders, passionate advocates and among the most dedicated professionals in the industry today. I look forward to working with them to advance our mission of ending preventable deaths in our lifetime."
When asked about her board appointment, Beitler said, "It's truly a privilege to serve on this board, and a great honor for BROWZ. The National Safety Council is well respected for their safety leadership, and we are more than pleased to be aligned with them as a sponsor of the Journey to Safety Excellence and a member of the Campbell Institute. Looking out for the safety and well-being of global supply chains is a huge undertaking. Having a partner like the Council is a win for everyone."
