Brown Mackie College System of Schools Announces Conversion to E-textbooks and iPad for Students Nationwide
CINCINNATI, Nov. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Brown Mackie College system of schools ("Brown Mackie College"), a college of Education Management Corporation (NASDAQ: EDMC), is adopting technology into education, converting students at its 28 schools nationwide to 100 percent e-textbooks and Apple iPad technology. Through the college's Student Advantage Program, each incoming student will receive an iPad with the applications and textbooks necessary to make the technology a key part of their overall educational experience.
"At Brown Mackie College, we aspire to be at the forefront of educational innovation and we have a responsibility to prepare students for the ever-evolving digital environment," says Danny Finuf, President of Brown Mackie College. "Converting fully to e-textbooks and doing so with Apple's tablet technology will provide a powerful platform for student success at Brown Mackie College."
E-textbooks and the iPad are a vital part of the Student Advantage Program – a proactive approach to continual improvement of education quality through technology, academics, career services and facilities advantages. The iPad will be the key digital resource for Brown Mackie College students, made an integral part of the teaching and learning experience by more than 1,000 faculty members each day. The iPad will provide students with ease of access to their academic instructors, expanded curricular materials including textbooks, and extensive resource and reference material, while facilitating improved networks with fellow students to deliver a more robust educational experience.
These enhancements to the college's Student Advantage Program provide for greater mobility, connectivity and convenience for students. In addition, the conversion to the iPad device and e-textbooks will help lower the overall cost of education to students, saving students roughly $200 per quarter on the cost of printed textbooks.
