CANTON, Mass., Nov. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- LoJack Corporation (NASDAQ: LOJN), a provider of vehicle theft recovery and advanced fleet management solutions, announced today that Brooks School, an independent, college preparatory boarding and day school located in North Andover, Massachusetts, will enable its fleet vehicles with LoJack® Fleet Management powered by TomTom. This solution will provide the school's private fleet, utilized to transport students to various activities, with tools to improve driver and passenger safety, better navigate traffic routes and increase operational efficiencies through digitized reports.
"Nothing is more important than the well-being of our students and with the LoJack Fleet Management solution in place, we are confident our drivers will feel empowered to safely operate our vehicles, enhancing the quality of safety and service we offer our students and their families," said Dean Ellerton, Director of Operations at Brooks School. "In addition to the improved safety measures, we'll also see reduced fuel and maintenance costs through the operational efficiencies LoJack's telematics solution will provide."
By implementing the LoJack Fleet Management solution, which is "Software as a Service"-based with advanced management tools, Brooks School will realize the following benefits:
- Improved driver and passenger safety: A core feature of LoJack's telematics solution is TomTom Active Driver Feedback and the TomTom OptiDrive™ scoring system. Active Driver Feedback provides real time feedback when sensing unsafe driving methods, like speeding or harsh braking, prompting drivers to change risky behavior and improve driving style in that moment to increase driver and passenger safety. The OptiDrive™ system brings the data together and provides the driver and fleet operator with a score to help them improve driving techniques.
- Increased operational efficiencies: Other distinctive features of LoJack's telematics solution are the advanced management tools, including a customized web interface for fleet managers and customized reporting methods. The delivery of timely, accurate data, like preventative maintenance alerts, will allow Brooks School to stay on top of regular vehicle maintenance needs, resulting in significant savings.
- Optimized routes with live traffic updates: Access to TomTom Traffic™, an exclusive and proprietary real-time traffic information service, provides drivers with accurate and comprehensive traffic data to calculate a faster route to a driver's destination. These features can assist Brooks School in reducing their carbon footprint by improving gas mileage, reducing driving habits that result in wasted fuel, and providing instant routing and accurate mapping to reduce travel times.
"Having the ability to improve safety measures is important for any fleet, but especially critical for an active institution like Brooks School where they are constantly transporting students to-and-from daily activities. We're pleased to provide the technology and services to help Brooks School improve safety measures, as well as to streamline operations by extracting real-time data so that they can more efficiently deploy their vehicles," said Joe Castelli, Vice President, Fleet and Commercial Operations at LoJack.
