CHELMSFORD, Mass., July 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Brooks Life Science Systems announced today the expansion of its sample preparation and bioprocessing laboratory services at its BioStorage® Technologies center of excellence biorepository in Indianapolis.
Brooks' expanded sample bioprocessing capabilities in Indianapolis will include a full range of sample preparation services such as volumetric and normalized aliquoting, nucleic acid extraction, blood fractionation and PBMC isolation as well as cryopreservation services that will leverage existing best practices and protocols created by the BioProcessing Solutions Alliance with RUCDR® Infinite Biologics. The site expansion is a byproduct of customer needs and offers harmonized and validated services in Indianapolis around nucleic acid extraction and PBMC cryopreservation services that support life sciences discovery and development.
"With the expansion in key geographic regions, we are pleased to offer services that will facilitate our customer's global clinical trials," said Dr. Andrew Brooks, Chief Scientific Officer and Scientific and Co-Managing Director of the Bioprocessing Solutions Alliance. "Standardized methods, training and competency programs allow us to provide consistent, high-quality biomaterial preparations that can be used for phenotypic or functional analyses in support of both discovery and clinical applications," said Brooks.
This announcement comes on the heels of Brooks Life Sciences' plans to expand its state-of-the-art biorepository facility in Indianapolis. The expansion represented a 20 percent increase in footprint and a 55 percent increase in new freezers and features some of the latest innovations in sample management automation and cryogenic storage solutions. These expansions enable Brooks to provide redundancy critical to risk mitigation plans while meeting the growing needs for sample storage and lab services among life sciences customers.
"Our expanded analytical laboratory services, strategically located next to the Indianapolis International Airport and the FedEx Air Freight National Hub will allow for sample preparation and bioprocessing of time-sensitive samples such as PBMCs and other primary cells requiring isolation and cryopreservation," said Martin Long, VP/General Manager, Brooks Life Science Systems.
BioStorage Technologies, a subsidiary of Brooks, has an ISO 9001:2015 biorepository and laboratory facility in Indianapolis and offers additional sample management solutions in Europe and Asia-Pacific.
