New York State's Department of Health conducts annual clinical inspections of all NYC nursing home facilities to monitor for proper certifications of staff and facilities, adherence to standard health inspection codes, adherence to standard life safety inspection codes, incidents of resident harm or injury and incidents of complaints by residents. Any and all citations and complaints are noted, recorded and investigated. The NYS DOH looks for insurance certification and compliance, evaluates the overall quality of care of each resident and ensures all resident rights are being upheld.
