Broadspire Case Management Honored with Case In Point Platinum Award
ATLANTA, June 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Broadspire's case management operations recently won a Platinum Award from Dorland Health, publishers of Case In Point magazine, for best Overall Case Management. This prestigious honor recognizes the leading case management company, regardless of setting or discipline.
Broadspire, a Crawford Company (NYSE: CRDA; CRDB) and leading third party administrator (TPA) and medical management services provider, competed against the biggest names in the case management industry and in the end was recognized for making "an impact by increasing access, improving quality or reducing cost in a global manner," according to the publication.
"This is a great honor for Broadspire," said Danielle Lisenbey, chief operating officer, medical services for Broadspire. "It is always wonderful to receive industry recognition for the quality that so many people work hard to provide. This award is a testament to our employees and their passion for excellence."
Broadspire case management plays a vital role in the Company's comprehensive medical management strategy for workers compensation and liability claims. Case managers serve as advocates and advisors to thousands of injured workers with a wide variety of illnesses and injuries.
Located across the nation, Broadspire's URAC-accredited case management operations offer 400 credentialed professionals who provide an individual, consultative approach. When assigned to assist an injured worker, they are in constant contact with the family, the patient, the provider and the employer to facilitate care. Case managers streamline processes, gain information and tap into the expertise of more than 175 board-certified physician advisors on Broadspire's proprietary panel.
Whether coordinating care in the emergency room in the middle of the night following a catastrophic injury, facilitating onsite crisis intervention resources, developing life care plans or arranging for community services, case managers work with the injured and their families to achieve the best possible outcomes.
For example, in 2009, 94.7 percent of the injured employees assigned to Broadspire's field case management program within 90 days of injury returned to work. In the same year, 97 percent of Broadspire's telephonic case management cases returned to work. Together, case management services led to a savings of more than $11.9 million for Broadspire clients.
The Platinum Awards were presented during a recent luncheon at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The second annual awards program recognizes the most successful and innovative case management programs working to improve healthcare. Broadspire case management was also a finalist in the Workers Compensation category and Broadspire Care Management was a finalist in the Social Work category. A special section in the May/June 2011 Issue of Case In Point magazine features the winners and provides a glimpse into the honorable mentions, including a specific look at outcomes.
