LAS VEGAS, Jan. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- 2013 CES International – Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ: BRCM), a global innovation leader in semiconductor solutions for wired and wireless communications, today announced that Comcast has chosen its connected home set-top box (STB) technology for use in the RNG150N interactive STB now shipping to subscribers. Based on the Broadcom BCM7125 system-on-a-chip (SoC) and running Comcast Reference Design Kit (RDK) version 1.1, the Comcast RNG150N STB powers the latest in interactive HDTV programming, connectivity, whole-home media distribution and advanced 3D user interfaces. Key Features of Broadcom's BCM7125 STB SoC:
- Integrates five different major STB functions into one device while achieving power savings and reduced footprint and including a full DOCSIS cable modem, MPEG 4 HD decoder, MoCA® 1.1 modem, 1GHz tuners and 3D graphics.
- Supports video-on-demand (VoD), IP video streaming, and integration of the X1 user interface (UI) system with social networking, personalization and fast search.
- Features configuration option to run the X1 UI as a client device connected to an XG1DVR server. This provides greater deployment flexibility for Comcast to deliver the X1 AnyRoom DVR service to subscribers.

Broadcom is currently shipping the MoCA-integrated BCM7125 single-chip, multi-format HD DOCSIS® 2.0 compatible silicon solution in high volume production.
