Broadcom Engineer Wins Test Engineer of the Year Award

Davis was awarded with the honor during at the publication's annual awards ceremony on Tuesday evening. 

Test & Measurement World's annual Test Engineer of the Year award pays tribute to the important contributions that test engineers make to the quality of electronics components, products and systems. Davis was presented with this honor for his outstanding achievements with Broadcom's flagship BCM4330 combo chip.

As a technique specialist and team leader with WLAN hardware team, Davis manages and characterizes RF performance of all Broadcom's WLAN mobility chips, modules and drivers throughout product life cycles. The BCM4330, Broadcom's flagship wireless combo chip, combines multiple cutting-edge wireless systems (802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and FM radio) on a single silicon die.

Beyond the challenge of developing industry-leading WLAN solutions like the BCM4330, the complexity of testing also rises. With his expertise on RF hardware design and his dedication of test automation, Brad and his team have pioneered new techniques and tools that have increased test coverage by many times, improving test speeds by a factor of 3 compared to prior techniques.

In addition to the award and recognition, Davis will be given the honor of designating a $10,000 grant to an engineering program, courtesy of National Instruments, the award sponsor.
