Broadband Forum BASE event brings new broadband perspectives
LAS VEGAS, Sept. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- 10Gbps broadband, NG-PON2, fiber extension, cloud services, the connected home and 5G will be the focus of the Broadband Forum's latest BASE event at the Encore Hotel in Las Vegas on Sunday, October 28.
BASE Las Vegas will consist of four tracks covering topics addressing all aspects of broadband design, implementation and maintenance, from the central office to the cloud to the Connected Home. These tracks are titled "Network Access: Applications and Opportunities," "10 Gigabit and Beyond with Fiber," "Fiber Extension Technologies, Standards and Solutions" and "Wireless Broadband."
As part of the agenda, SK Telecom, Cox Communications and Telus will describe current and future applications, integration challenges, deployments and use of specific technologies in their home and access network architectures. Julie Kunstler, Principal Analyst at Ovum, will start the event with a report on the market and technology trends affecting broadband.
"After the success of our last two BASE events in Athens and San Diego earlier this year, we're excited to bring together a wide range of speakers to cover topics that are key to service providers across the broadband ecosystem," said Broadband Forum BASE Chair Bernd Hesse. "As we gear up to deploy a new generation of broadband, collaboration on this level is key to delivering ubiquitous next-generation access and realizing the huge potential of 5G, the cloud and virtualization."
There will also be updates from the Broadband Forum's innovative work areas, providing insight into the development of its next-generation broadband technologies and standards. For instance, 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT), developments in the Forum's Cloud Central Office (CloudCO), Software Defined Access, User Services Platform (USP) and Open Broadband projects will be explored.
BASE is organized by the Broadband Forum and held in different regions of the world. The intent is to bring together operators and vendors, system architects, engineering and marketing for an open and candid discussion of the issues, challenges, applications and solutions affecting broadband networking and Internet access. It is an opportunity to network with peers and colleagues, and meet new people and share experiences.
The previous four events were held in Berlin, Germany, Las Vegas, Athens, Greece, and San Diego, California. Attendance at this event is not restricted to members and is free of charge. After the last BASE event, 98% of people who attended said they would attend another one.
