Brits say Hospital Parking Charges Top Chart of Sneaky Extras
LONDON, September 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
Brits rank hospital parking fees as the most annoying sneaky extra charge, according to a poll by money-saving website DiscountVouchers.co.uk.
The survey highlighted our frustration at having to dig deep to pay for extras many of us think should be free. Respondents had to pick out their top three annoying extras from a list of major moans.
Restaurants that automatically add on service charges trailed into second place with anger at having to pay to use the toilet at a railway station, taking third position.
Here are Britain's top 10 annoying charges:
- Hospital parking charges
- Restaurants that automatically add on service charges
- Paying to use the toilet at a railway station
- Paying to call customer services
- Low-cost airline add-ons
- Cash machine charges
- Car park machines that don't give change
- Credit card charges and commission on trips abroad
- Roaming fees for mobile phones
- WIFI charges at hotels or on trains
Doug Scott, managing director of DiscountVouchers.co.uk, says: "People feel they are being taken advantage of because they have no choice but to pay these annoying extras. Many of these fees show short-term thinking as we all suspect the charge far outweighs the cost of providing the service."
