LONDON, April 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
When you think about British fruit, what probably springs to mind is orchards full of apples, pears and plums. However, a recent survey carried out by the office fruit delivery company Fruitdrop found that when it comes to snacking on fruit, most people - a huge 40% in fact - prefer to have a banana above anything else.
Brits' top five fruits, in order of preference, are:
1. Bananas (40%)
2. Apples (23%)
3. Pears (14%)
4. Oranges (15%)
5. Plums (8%)
Ben Thompson, managing director of Fruitdrop comments: "Bananas are the perfect snack for busy office workers. Not only do they come with their own natural wrapping - making them the easiest snack to grab on the go - but they provide a fantastic boost of slow-release energy for your brain and body."
Thompson continues: "We sell well over two million bananas every year - that's around 5,500 per day. All of our essential and seasonal fruit boxes contain bananas as well as other British favourites including apples, satsumas, plums and pears. Office fruit box delivery starts from just £20 per week, providing enough fruit to sustain up to 20 employees."
Studies have shown that a healthy employee is up to 20% more productive than an unhealthy employee[1]; while providing free fruit makes everyone feel appreciated and motivated. Plus, having fruit in the office means workers are far more likely to reach for that instead of unhealthy vending machine snacks.
