British International School Of Chicago Opens New South Loop Campus
HONG KONG, Sept. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Nord Anglia Education, Inc. (NYSE: NORD), the world's leading premium schools organization, yesterday celebrated the opening of its new school, the British International School of Chicago, South Loop. Following the ground breaking for the greenfield school in March 2014, the British International School of Chicago's new 1,100 seat South Loop campus opened for its inaugural school year on Monday, August 31, 2015.
Part of Nord Anglia Education's global family of 42 schools, the British International School of Chicago offers personalized, international education to students between the ages of 3 and 18 years old. The South Loop campus serves students from preschool through high school, complementing the British International School of Chicago's existing Lincoln Park campus, which has recently been refurbished for students from preschool through Grade 5.
Located on South Wells Street, the new campus features a 9,000-square-foot gymnasium, technology classrooms with 3D printers, a state-of-the-art science wing, two libraries, a music recording studio and sound-proof practice rooms, a restaurant-style cafeteria, a community rooftop garden, and an on-site sports field with artificial turf.
"We are thrilled about our new school and the expanded educational opportunities it will provide students, parents and the South Loop community," Mike Horton, Principal, the British International School of Chicago South Loop, said. "The South Loop is perfectly suited to enhance our students' education. With the museum campus and other important landmarks right at our doorstep, they will be able to learn amidst Chicago's rich cultural heritage."
Andrew Fitzmaurice, CEO of Nord Anglia Education, commented "We are very pleased to celebrate our most recent greenfield school opening. The British International School of Chicago's South Loop campus provides a world-class learning environment for our students and the opening of this school takes the number of schools in the Nord Anglia Education family to 42 schools. Greenfield schools are an important part of our growth strategy and, in addition to the new state-of-the-art campus which is currently under construction for the British International School of Houston, we continue to work on an expanding pipeline of greenfield opportunities."
