ANTHEM, Ariz., Dec. 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Clifford Olson, licensed audiologist and U.S. Marine Corps veteran, opened Applied Hearing Solutions in Anthem, AZ this past June, becoming the area's premier provider of hearing health services.
Applied Hearing Solutions was born out of Dr. Olson's desire to adhere to industry standards and best practices for patients.
"Only 30 percent of clinics actually do these best practices," he said in an interview with 85086 Magazine. "I'm adamant that I have to do them. In order to make sure I could provide the highest quality of care and follow these best practices, it was either go to a clinic that might not be in reach or it was starting up my own clinic."
Dr. Olson was inspired to enter audiology after his time in the military. He obtained his doctorate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2006 and holds a number of additional credentials. A board-certified audiologist, Dr. Olson earned a Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and a member of the Academy of Doctors of Audiology.
Although he specializes in treating hearing loss and tinnitus with hearing aids, Dr. Olson is also familiar with surgical treatment options due to his time spent as an audiologist for an ear surgeon.
An experience leading to a lifetime of care
Dr. Olson understands the importance of quality care, especially given his experience in the Marines. He discovered his own hearing loss after enrolling at 19 and quickly saw the importance of quality treatment.
Though society often downplays hearing loss treatment, Dr. Olson hopes to reverse this perception and provide Anthem-area residents with the care they deserve. According to the Hearing Loss Association of America, one out of every three people age 65 has hearing loss.
Hearing health problems are surprisingly prevalent; in fact, hearing loss is the third most common physical condition after arthritis and heart disease. Additionally, patients often don't understand the true consequences of hearing loss or that it is linked to many other health issues, including depression, diabetes and dementia.
Applied Hearing Solutions' YouTube channel has a growing library of helpful audiology-related videos.
