Brightwood College In Laredo Announces New Pharmacy Technician Program To Launch Oct. 12
LAREDO, Texas, Sept. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Brightwood College in Laredo is pleased to announce the launch of its new Pharmacy Technician program beginning Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017 at its campus located at 6410 McPherson Road. The 36-week program will offer a comprehensive set of courses that includes hands-on experience working with prescription medications, as well as the technical training and the interpersonal skills necessary to pursue a career in the pharmaceutical field.

"Whether pursuing a career in a hospital, retail pharmacy or mail-order prescription company, you may need additional education and training to help you stand out – and our program can help."
Students will benefit from a well-rounded curriculum, which includes courses focusing on skills such as how to prepare prescription medications, how to authorize prescription refills, how to transcribe doctors' orders, how to file insurance claims and how to safely handle medications. Graduates of the program are prepared to gather information from customers or healthcare professionals needed to fill prescriptions, count or measure medications for prescriptions, prepare labels for medications and verify that the information is correct, organize and stock medication inventory, file insurance claims and forms and interact with customers, doctors' offices and coworkers to ensure the safety of medications.
Upon completing the pharmacy technician program, eligible students may seek certification by taking the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) sponsored by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
