MIAMI, Nov. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Brightstar Corp., the world's largest specialized wireless distribution company and leader in diversified services for the wireless industry, today announced that Michael Wolfe, formerly of AMD, will join the company as Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology Officer. Mr. Wolfe will replace Rafael Sanchez, who will pursue other opportunities outside of Brightstar.

Mr. Wolfe brings to Brightstar more than 31 years of engineering and information technology experience. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). Earlier, he was Vice President of product development and engineering IT at Hewlett-Packard. Prior to HP, he spent more than 24 years at Motorola and Freescale Semiconductor, eventually becoming CIO of Freescale. In 2011, Mr. Wolfe was recognized as the inaugural honoree of the Enterprise CIO Forum's Transformational CIO for his pioneering approach to the strategic use of IT. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a BS in chemical engineering and holds an MBA from the University of Texas.
