Brightstar Adds Google's Nexus One to Android Device Global Distribution Program
Android Application Developers Around the World Turn to Brightstar to Deliver Nexus One
CHICAGO, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Brightstar Corp., a global leader in services and solutions for the telecommunications industry, announced today that it is expanding its global sales and distribution program for phones using the open source-based mobile device platform Android™. Brightstar, via its customized global e-commerce and distribution network accessible via the Android Market Publisher site at market.android.com/publish, will now sell and deliver Google's Nexus One in nine markets including Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Singapore, Spain, United Kingdom, and the United States.
In December 2008, Brightstar launched the original developer program to support Google, along with the Open Handset Alliance, a group of companies who created the Android platform to make mobile devices open and integrated with the Internet, allowing everyone in the ecosystem to benefit. Brightstar sells devices to developers who have been registered and approved by Google at the Android Market Publisher site at market.android.com/publish. In October 2009, Brightstar expanded its developer program by offering a second device to nearly 30 markets.
Google's Nexus One, is operator independent and is available for purchase by anyone registered with Android Market™ in the approved geographies. Additional features of the smartphone include a large touch screen LCD and virtual keyboard, WIFI, a 3.1 Megapixel Camera and Android 2.2 (Froyo) operating system.
