Made possible with Briggs & Stratton's patent-pending engine design, SmartStow can easily fold, requiring up to 70 percent less storage space than a traditional lawn mower. The folding process takes only three simple steps and the deck of the lawn mower can be stored in an upright position. Not only does this innovation address homeowners' issues with storage, it results in easier access to the underside of the lawn mower for cleaning and maintenance.
"Garage space is at a premium in most homes," says Carissa Gingras, Director of Marketing at Briggs & Stratton. "Homeowners told us they wanted a lawnmower that took up less room and was easier to clean and maintain, and Mow n' Stow solves both needs."
Key changes to the Briggs & Stratton Mow 'n' Stow engine technology enable gas and oil to stay in their respective places, preventing leakage. "We needed to make sure that the system could be stored safely with a full tank of gas without spilling," says Briggs & Stratton engineer Jacob Schmalz. "To accomplish this, we redesigned some of our vents and put in some new oil seals. Features such as toggle locks have been conveniently placed on the lower handlebars so it can be locked safely into place when stored."
At 7.25 ft-lbs. of gross torque*, the engine offers the same great cutting power, performance and ease of starting homeowners have come to expect from Briggs & Stratton.
Toro SmartStow with Briggs & Stratton Mow 'n' Stow technology will be sold through Toro dealers and Homedepot.com starting in January 2014. This engine is made in the USA of U.S. and global parts at the Briggs & Stratton Poplar Bluff, Mo. plant. For more information, please visit: www.briggsandstratton.com.
