Bridging the Gap: Reconnecting America and Congress
WASHINGTON, July 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The second of a three part series, this forum will focus on how the American public is reacting to a volatile economic and political environment. The key findings of the SHRM - National Journal Congressional Connection Poll conducted with the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press will be shared, featuring key findings that indicate that the American people are very concerned about the budget deficit and how it can be reduced. They're also very concerned about their personal economic situations and how their communities are affected by the economic downturn.
Panels including members of Congress and experienced policy leaders will explore how to lead when priorities are unclear. The panels will also explore available options, as well as tough choices between deficit reduction and stimulus that may have consequences during an election year. How do leaders begin to work on solutions? How can a dialogue be established between the public and policymakers on hard choices ahead?
The event will take place on July 27, 2010 at the Newseum, Knight Broadcast Studio from 8 to 10:00 a.m., and will be hosted by National Journal Group and underwritten by The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
