MELVILLE, N.Y., Oct. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Canon Solutions America, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon U.S.A., Inc., today announced that on October 12, 2017, its Enterprise Managed Services Division (EMSD) led by the Healthcare Advisory Team (HEAT), collaborated with the American Hispanic Healthcare Executives (AHHE) to host the Manager's Council Healthcare Roundtable Series on "Bridging the Gap in Access to Healthcare." This session focused on the challenges of Healthcare Executive Officers in ensuring their hospitals provide affordable and comprehensive care to the communities they serve, and how the formulation of strategic partnerships between the private and public sectors can support the community by providing access to healthcare for everyone.
The event began with introductions by Pedro A. Rivera, Esq., LL.M and George Zeppenfeldt-Cestero, president & CEO of AHHE, who invited EMSD to sponsor the event.
The first presentation of the night was a conversation between Andrea Rai, senior manager of Strategic Partnerships with the Healthcare Advisory Team, and Sasha Dolgicer, senior director of Corporate Relations for the University of Miami (UM). They discussed the history of the relationship that began in 2013 between EMSD and UM, encompassing UHealth, the University's hospital system. EMSD's commitment to a holistic partnership that focuses on UM students, patients, the university, and the hospital has helped lead to positive impacts on underserved portions of the South Florida community and their access to healthcare.
Steve Lorig, the EMSD account executive managing the NYC Health + Hospitals engagement and a HEAT healthcare ambassador, presented on EMSD's recent collaboration with the health system, and how EMSD has begun developing strategic partnerships within the system.
The keynote speaker for the event was Alina Moran, the Chief Executive Officer of NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan. Ms. Moran's presentation examined the impact of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the Medicaid redesign in New York State, and the Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP) Program.
Ms. Moran's presentation also explored OneCity Health goals, which among other things, seeks to drive long-term community engagement and partnership while building healthier communities.
The final topic of the keynote was NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan Transformation Goals: Strengthen Primary Care and Behavioral Health, Enhance Outreach and Activation, Ensure Robust, Targeted Care Management, and Support Seamless Care Transitions.
Over forty healthcare executives attended the event, representing major hospitals across New York City.
"Our collaboration with Canon's Enterprise Managed Services Division on the AHHE Managers Council Roundtable was a great success," stated Pedro A. Rivera, Esq., LL.M, director of Labor Relations for NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, and a member of the AHHE Managers Council. "The event was very well attended by AHHE members and the healthcare community. This was an incredible opportunity to learn from the experiences of those who support the effort to make healthcare accessible to all."
Strategic collaborations have become the foundation of Canon Solutions America's Enterprise Managed Services Division's engagements with healthcare clients. EMSD's healthcare offering seeks to go beyond delivering multifunctional print devices, software, and services by seeking to align the strategic goals of the client and vendor at the outset of each engagement. To assist in this effort, the Healthcare Advisory Team was created to conduct primary research on industry trends and to focus on opportunities in the healthcare print space by identifying and implementing best practices, including benchmarking metrics to track program goals and successes.
