Bricklayers' International Endorses Tom Perez for DNC Chair
WASHINGTON, Feb. 2, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (BAC) today endorsed Tom Perez for DNC Chair. Said BAC President James Boland, "BAC is proud to endorse Tom Perez for DNC chair. Tom understands how to take on decades-long, difficult fights and win. For over a century, our members have been suffering from silicosis, a debilitating and deadly disease, after overexposure to silica in the workplace. The rule to limit exposure to silica - and save lives - had been over 80 years in the making but was stalled time and time again. It was Tom Perez who stood up to special interests and did what was right for workers across the nation by seeing this critical rulemaking to fruition. Tom understands the importance of good jobs, fair wages, and workplace protections that keep our members safe and healthy. Tom has stood beside us for tough fights before and we know he'll continue to do so as DNC chair."
The International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, headquartered in Washington, D.C., is the oldest continuous union in North America and represents roughly 80,000 skilled masonry-trowel trades craftworkers in the United States and Canada, including bricklayers, tile setters, cement masons, plasterers, stone masons, marble masons, restoration workers, and terrazzo and mosaic workers.
