Bretton Woods Ski Area at the Omni Mount Washington Resort Officially Opens for the Season
First Ski Resort to Open in New Hampshire for the 2010-11 Season
BRETTON WOODS, N.H., Nov. 23, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Bretton Woods, part of the Omni Mount Washington Resort, officially opened today for the skiing and snowboarding season, offering the first skiing in the state of New Hampshire for the 2010-11 season.
"Despite a roller coaster of temperatures in the month of November, our aggressive snowmaking tactics have really paid off. We are open with top to bottom skiing, which is one of our best openings ever," says Chris Ellms, Director of Ski Operations. "We are looking forward to the Thanksgiving weekend and with cold temperatures in the forecast, we can start opening up more terrain."
For those ready to get their legs warmed up, the mountain is offering skiing and riding on five trails with three lifts running, on freshly groomed man-made loose granular snow. Some terrain park elements have been set up as well for early-season jibbing. Tickets November 22-24 are $39 adults 18-64; $35 teens 13-17; $30 juniors 5-12; and $25 seniors 65+. Beginning Thursday, November 25 through November 28, rates are $59 adults 18-64; $49 teens 13-17; $39 juniors 5-12; and $25 seniors 65+ Mon-Fri and $59 Sat-Sun. The Learning Center Quad is complimentary for all ages Monday-Friday during non-holiday periods, and $15 weekends and holidays.
Snowmaking will continue and more trails and lifts are planned to open as conditions allow, and ticket prices will be adjusted accordingly. Also open this weekend are the food court, rental shop, ski school for private lessons (based on availability and current conditions), and TreeTop Sports with clothing and accessories. Season Passes also remain on sale at a reduced rate if purchased before November 30, and are available for pick up seven days a week.
For adventure above the slopes and in the trees, the Bretton Woods Canopy Tour is open year-round and offers an exhilarating three-hour tour with zip lines, sky bridges and rappels. As space is limited, guests should call 603-278-4ZIP prior to their visit for information and reservations. Special offers include the popular "Zip & Ski" ticket, which comes with a canopy tour and full day of skiing from just $129! The "Williwaw" dual racing zip will also be open this weekend.
Special ski and stay packages are now available, including the Stay Here, Ski Free package starting at just $99 per person per night, based on double occupancy, which includes lodging at the Omni Mount Washington Hotel or Bretton Arms Inn with lift tickets for skiing and riding at Bretton Woods.
Upcoming events include the Thanksgiving Holiday Celebration, including family traditions and a visit from old Saint Nick; Bretton Woods' "Homecoming," featuring Warren Miller's latest film "Wintervention" at the Base Lodge on Friday, November 26, plus BBQ and live music on Saturday, November 27; Tea with Mrs. Claus Saturdays November 27-December 18; Breakfast with Santa Sundays November 28-December 19; the Nutcracker Ballet December 18; and A Very Merry-onette Christmas December 24-26.
