BREMEN, Ga., April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- On your mark! Get set! Go! Registration for the 5K Run / Walk at the Third-Annual Bremen BRIDGE Festival is now available www.BremenBridgeFest.com. This annual family celebration will take place on Saturday, May 15, 2010 and will benefit BRIDGE, a West Georgia program designed to Bring Rescue in Drug Gripped Environments. The emphasis of this year's event is that Bremen is building a Bridge to help our pre-teens and teens find the right path to a drug free life.
In addition to the 5K, there will be activities for the whole family to enjoy including live entertainment including a Bremen Idol competition – music and other performances, a series of athletic competitions hosted by the Bremen Recreation Department, an antique car exhibit, a community prayer, drug awareness and community clean-up projects and food vendors. Visitors will also have the chance to learn about living healthier with on-site information booths and complimentary basic health screenings.
"Including the Fun Run, this annual event helps us to promote health among our participants and raise funds to help BRIDGE continue to teach our children the benefit of living well, including saying no to drugs," said Dr. William Parrish, a physician with Primary Care of Bremen and co-chair of the BRIDGE organization. "It's an issue that affects the entire community, but is also one we can help resolve together." Adds Chief Keith Pesnell, Co-Chair Chair of BRIDGE, "To keep our teens drug free, we have to educate and remind our kids and ourselves, and lead by example."

About BRIDGE
BRIDGE – Bringing Rescue into Drug Gripped Environment – was created in 2007, amidst a growing concern about the rise of meth use among Bremen teenagers, now emphasizing abuse of any drug whether it is a behind the counter drug or street substances. The BRIDGE committee is comprised of representatives from the city's police department, mental health facilities, business leaders, doctors, church leadership as well as staff from Bremen City Schools. The primary focus of the organization is to connect those with drug related problems to the help they need to start their recovery.
