Breinholt named Chief of Pediatric Cardiology at Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital
HOUSTON, July 9, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Renowned pediatric cardiologist John P. Breinholt, M.D. has been named the Chief of Pediatric Cardiology at Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital. He will also serve as the director of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology in the Department of Pediatrics at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Medical School.

With a goal of growing the pediatric cardiology program across the Memorial Hermann Health System, Breinholt will treat various heart issues in children including aortic valve disease, atrial fibrillation, cardiomyopathy, congestive heart failure, pulmonary valve disease, pulmonary hypertension, septal defect, tricuspid valve disease, pericardial disease, mitral valve disease, coarctation of the aorta, and congenital heart disease.

Breinholt graduated from the University Of Utah School Of Medicine and completed his pediatric residency at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital. He received his pediatric cardiology training at Texas Children's Hospital, where he also received additional training in cardiomyopathy and cardiac transplant. After completing an advanced fellowship in cardiac catheterization, he was recruited to Indiana University School of Medicine, where he was associate professor of pediatrics, director of the Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Program, and director of education for the Division of Pediatric Cardiology.
