Breezer's 2011 Uptown Infinity Combines Award-Winning Uptown Frame and Components with Smooth Shifting NuVinci® N360 Transmission
SAN DIEGO, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Fallbrook Technologies Inc.'s (Fallbrook) infinitely variable NuVinci® N360 transmission will be featured on the new Breezer Uptown Infinity, Breezer's top of the line town bike for 2011. The N360 is the next generation of Fallbrook's award-winning Continuously Variable Planetary (CVP) transmission for bicycles. The Uptown has been awarded Bicycling Magazine's "Editor's Choice" for the best commuter bike for the past three years.
With a simple twist of the wrist, Uptown Infinity riders will have an infinite choice of gearing between the highest and lowest — a 360 percent range — with the new NuVinci CVP drivetrain. The N360 transmits mechanical power with spheres instead of gears providing seamless, continuous shifting (even under high pedal torque), without power interruptions, missed gears or dropped chains. The intuitive shifting dial's feather touch easily increases or decreases pedaling exertion. For better protection, N360's hub interface is now housed inboard of the frame dropout and is maintenance free and requires no adjustments.
"Combining the proven ride-ability and reliability of the Uptown with the award-winning NuVinci N360 CVP transmission will make for an even better, fully-equipped commuter that is infinitely fun and infinity practical," said Joe Breeze, president and founder of Breezer Bikes.
"The Breezer Uptown Infinity marks the perfect incorporation of the NuVinci N360 drivetrain with an award-winning commuter bike that is ideal for cyclists of all ages and experience levels," said Alan M. Nordin, Fallbrook's Bicycle Division President. "The N360's small, lighter design and smooth shifting experience will delight riders and ensure that they enjoy many, many miles hassle free cycling.
Compared to the NuVinci bicycle drivetrain launched in 2007, the NuVinci N360 model is now over 30% lighter, 17% smaller and has an increased 360% ratio range. Shift effort is significantly reduced even under high pedal forces and there is 50% less twist rotation required to move between the lowest and highest ratios.

About Fallbrook Technologies Inc.
Fallbrook Technologies Inc. is a technology and manufacturing company dedicated to improving the performance and flexibility of transmissions for vehicles and equipment. Fallbrook's NuVinci® continuously variable planetary (CVP) technology is applicable to machines that use a transmission such as bicycles, light electric vehicles, automobiles, agricultural equipment, and wind turbines, among others. The NuVinci CVP uses a set of rotating and tilting balls positioned between the input and output components of a transmission. Tilting the balls changes their contact diameters and varies the speed ratio. The NuVinci platform offers companies the flexibility to design and produce next-generation products that are better tailored to their unique business, market and competitive requirements. Fallbrook has built an extensive portfolio of over 350 patents and patent applications worldwide. For more information, visit www.fallbrooktech.com.
