CHICAGO, Oct. 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Combined Insurance, a leading provider of individual supplemental accident, disability, health, and life insurance products, and a Chubb company, continues to educate consumers on the importance of breast cancer awareness as October comes to a close. Breast cancer affects American women and men year-round; and supplemental insurance benefits can be used to cover the unexpected out-of-pocket costs associated with a diagnosis.
"At Combined, we give our time, effort and dedication to not only fundraise for cancer treatment, but also take the time to empathize with our customers who may now be using their policy benefits to cover costs as a result of a cancer diagnosis," said Ken McIntyre, SVP, Operations at Combined Insurance. "Breast cancer awareness is important to us and we see the impact of how our products can help ease the financial burden during a time when consumers need us most."
In recent years, breast cancer incidents and death rates have gradually declined, especially in women over 50. This is part due to better screening and early detection, increased awareness and continually improving treatment options.1
Combined Insurance understands that while cancer survival rates have improved in recent years, it is still important to take the necessary steps to protect against the disease and the costs associated with treatment. Supplemental insurance provides cash benefits directly to the insured for covered losses, which can be used to help cover some of the out-of-pocket expenses associated with cancer treatment and recovery.i
In addition to the supplemental products, Combined Insurance honors their founder's legacy by giving back to various health-focused organizations, including those that aid cancer research, treatment and support.
On October 20th, twenty employees from Combined Insurance and their family members participated in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Chicago for the fourth consecutive year. The walk raises awareness and funds to save lives from breast cancer. This year, their team raised nearly $7,000 to support the fight against breast cancer.
Corporate employees designated a day to wear pink in honor of the awareness month and hosted fundraisers to benefit the American Cancer Society.
And, the company also participated earlier this year at the American Cancer Society's Walk and Roll Chicago, which brings together thousands to honor, raise money and support all cancer during April's Cancer Control Month.
