NEW YORK, Sept. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Amazon made headlines when it launched "Kindle First" — a new program to give customers the ability to download selected books one month before their official release date. Likewise, in an effort to continually challenge and reinvent the publishing industry, Amazon is now giving independent publishers incentive to release highly anticipated titles early on as well.
With Bill Cosby, St. Paul's Boarding School and now Hillary Clinton placing the topic of sexual assault once again at the forefront, "The Raping of Ava DeSantis" created such a pre-release buzz storm on Goodreads, Twitter and Facebook, that publishing insiders nicknamed it "the sleeper hit bestseller of the year" months before its official release date of October 13, 2015.
The fictional horror-thriller is based on a screenplay Hollywood screenwriter Mylo Carbia originally optioned with a major studio, but was never green-lit due to the gruesome nature of several scenes: particularly the raping of an eighteen-year-old college student by three wealthy fraternity brothers which Carbia purposefully skips in the novel. Instead, the book version follows the aftermath of the event, including the hush money paid to the victim and the revenge she seeks against their loved ones decades later.
"Our original goal was to tap into the horror films market that sold more than 31 million tickets to horror fans last year, but when we read the early reviews of Carbia's book, we were floored," said Rockefeller Publishing President and CEO, J.E. Curtis. "Her writing style and storyline were so well received by early readers and critics that we knew we had to get this book into the marketplace as soon as possible."
Called "One of the best books of 2015" by AMB Magazine and "Horror's next New York Times Bestseller" by All Indie Magazine — coupled with the fact that international websites began selling fake black market copies of the book online — inspired Rockefeller Publishing to release the paperback version of the book one month ahead of schedule on Amazon instead.
"The Raping of Ava DeSantis" by Mylo Carbia is currently on sale exclusively on Amazon.com (http://www.Amazon-Bestsellers-2015.com) and will be available in both print and eBook formats on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple iBooks, Kobo and 30,000 other bookstores worldwide on October 13, 2015.
