The 2013 program will mark the third and second year for HydroVision Brasil and DistribuTECH Brasil respectively along with the inauguration of POWER-GEN Brasil. The new POWER-GEN Brasil event will complete the global network of POWER-GEN events, which collectively attract nearly 70,000 power professionals around the world. This is in direct response to market demand as Brazil faces a need for a massive expansion of its energy and power sectors to keep pace with the demands of economic growth.
The three co-located events provide the total power experience - generation, supply and delivery-covering all facets of networking, key industry topics and innovations impacting the future of the South American and Latin American markets. Together, they offer immense opportunity for companies throughout the world to enter this market and tap into this growth.
In line with the POWER-GEN, HydroVision and DistribuTECH brands, POWER-GEN Brasil, HydroVision Brasil and DistribuTECH Brasil will present a world-conference program that features over 200 speakers and more than 100 exhibitors from 20 countries around the globe plus special events and presentations. All up, the events are expected to attract more than 2,000 attendees worldwide.
Key highlights will include:
- Opening Keynote featuring some of the industry's top leaders
- Special Session which will discuss the rationale behind new rate reductions implemented by the federal government and their implications for utilities
- Networking Receptions on the exhibition floor
- Projects of the Year Awards for projects in the generation, hydropower and transmission & distribution sectors
- Closing Awards Luncheon with a wrap up of the week's activities
Covering the full spectrum of electricity generation, transmission & distribution from plant to consumer, the events serve as a timely reminder of the great investment opportunities in the Brazilian power sector over the coming years.
Brazil's investment rate will accelerate to as much as 25 percent GDP within five or six years following the launch of a large infrastructure program. According to Miriam Belchior, Brazil's budget and planning minister, the country should achieve higher rates of return from a series of concession projects.
Further to this, Brazil's electric power generation industry will be a major contributor of this investment with US$60bn expected to be invested in the next five years as stated by the federal energy planning. This represents an increase of nearly 65GW of power generation installed capacity to 167.01 GW by December 2019 as a result of the Government's Power Sector Ten-Year Expansion Plan.
With Government officials confident Brazil can achieve annual economic growth of about three percent to four percent, POWER-GEN Brasil, HydroVision Brasil and DistribuTECH Brasil provide the ideal opportunity for international companies to participate in this annual event and be part of the forecasted investment surge in Brazil.
The show has major support from Furnas as Host Utility and Official Endorsement by Government of the State of São Paulo, EnergyState Secretariat. The event also has the backing of major Supporting Associations- Abradee, Abragel, Abraget, Abrate and Society of Mining Engineers (SME).
