BLOOMINGTON-NORMAL, IL, Dec. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ - The Brandt Group of Companies has announced their support for families affected by the tragic school bus-transport truck collision on I-74 near Bloomington-Normal that recently claimed two lives and sent nine others to hospital with various non-life-threatening injuries. The head-on collision occurred as the Normal Community West High School Wildcats girls' basketball team was returning home from a game against Champaign Central on December 6, 2018.
"We are deeply saddened by what has happened here," says Brandt's Northern US Sales Manager, Hans Rasmussen. "We are a very tight community here in Bloomington-Normal and so many of us are connected in some way to someone on that bus. Brandt has been made to feel very welcome since arriving here last year and we want to do whatever we can to help."
The company will be making a $5,000.00 donation to the Unit 5 Educational Foundation in support of families affected by the tragedy. The funds will be presented today at a media event where Unit 5 will deliver updates on the aftermath of the accident, including the condition of the surviving victims.
GoFundMe pages have been set up in support of two of the most seriously wounded; team coach Steve Price and bus driver Mark Kuhn, both recovering from multiple traumatic injuries. The public is encouraged to contribute in support of these and other accident victims and their families.
