To start a self-aware reflection, focus on one specific pattern that isn't beneficial (or may even be harmful) to business decisions. Reflect on why that thing — whether it's a strategy, a product, or business partner — was chosen. After identifying the why, focus on the where: where have these types of decisions occurred in other areas of life? Are these patterns still playing out currently in some way? Consider how the patterns might be changed. For example, if new employees are only hired during desperate times, resulting in poor hiring choices, perhaps candidates can be researched and found before the need is quite so dire. This type of self-awareness can also translate to other decisions made in life, granting more control and self-agency on a personal and professional level.
