Brandman University Extends $500 Transfer Scholarship Deadline
Brandman responds to CA budget cuts, tougher admissions and impacted colleges by extending the $500 transfer scholarship program for new students
IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Brandman University, a fully accredited university within the Chapman University System, announced the continuation of its $500 scholarship program available to new transfer students earning their Brandman University bachelor's degree. To qualify for the $500 scholarship, students must have completed an associate degree, CSU certification, IGETC certification, or certified equivalent, and must apply to the University and start classes by March 29, 2010. The $500 scholarship can be applied to online courses offered by Brandman University or at any of the University's 25 campus locations throughout California and Washington. The scholarship is only open to new Brandman University students. Interested students should apply now as there are a limited number of scholarships available. To apply, visit www.brandman.edu/admission/transferScholarship. For additional information, call (800) 581-4100.
Brandman University approved the scholarship extension in an effort to aid transfer-ready community college students who may have been affected by recent enrollment reductions caused by the California budget crisis. The scholarship also applies to Brandman University's new Bachelor's in Business Administration program offered online and at the University's Irvine, California campus. Business Administration continues to be one of the most sought-after degrees for transfer students; last fall nearly 18 percent of California community college students enrolled in a business program at one of the state's four-year public institutions. Students facing impacted programs now have an alternative opportunity to complete their degree at a respected, quality institution in a manner that works with their schedules.
"Brandman University is progressively looking at ways we can help students who are faced with unexpected roadblocks to completing their degrees," said Brandman University Chancellor, Gary Brahm. "We are all about helping our leaders of tomorrow complete their educational goals. Brandman's personalized service, flexible schedules and high graduation rate is a testament to this commitment," added Brahm.
Further evidence for the need of new-student scholarships like the one being offered by Brandman University is echoed in the August 2009 report released by the Institute for Higher Education Leadership & Policy. The report stated that "severe budget cuts included in the 2009-2010 California state budget (and likely beyond) are resulting in sizeable, planned enrollment reductions in all three postsecondary segments." Striving to raise education levels while confronted with shrinking budgets is a challenge many educational institutions face statewide.
Students and community colleges interested in the Brandman University scholarship can get more information by calling (800) 581-4100 or by visiting www.brandman.edu/admission/transferScholarship. Deadline to apply for scholarships is March 29, 2010.
Brandman University's commitment to helping students complete their degrees is further demonstrated through its Early Advantage Program. Students at participating community colleges can apply to Brandman while still attending their community college. The program locks students into the current catalog year, removing the guess work out of which courses will transfer to their academic program at Brandman. Students have access to Brandman academic advisors who work with them to ensure they stay on track to completing their degrees. Community colleges throughout California and Washington can learn more about partnering with Brandman University's Early Advantage Program by contacting their local Brandman University campus.
