Branch Metrics Wins 2015 GSMA Mobile World Congress Startup Innovation Competition
Mobile Deep Linking Platform takes both judge and audience votes in the Mobile Innovation main stage pitch competition in Barcelona, Spain.
PALO ALTO, Calif., March 5 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Branch Metrics, a mobile software company focused on mobile deep linking, walked away as the landslide winner of the widely attended 2015 GSMA Mobile World Congress (MWC) Startup Innovation Competition in Barcelona, Spain which drew roughly ninety thousand attendees. Following Mark Zuckerberg's pronouncement that mobile should be free, participating companies gave a three-minute pitch in front of a large audience and a panel of mobile experts who then engaged in Q&A. Judges and audience members were polled to select the top innovator and Branch Metrics emerged with 31 percent of the audience vote, a full 11 percent ahead of the next best company.
This year's Mobile Innovation competition featured companies from industries including data, health care, infrastructure, and commerce, creating "The Next Wave" in mobile. Judges chose Branch as their favorite calling it a "mold-breaker" - not merely disruptive, but actually creating a new category.
"Branch is bringing deep linking to the forefront of mobile app development, allowing apps to function like the web," said Ben Narasin, President TriplePoint Ventures and one of Branch's lead investors and board members. "This is huge for companies with mobile apps – they see increased install conversions, can track data through the sharing and install process, and drive more organic growth than ever before. It's everything mobile has needed, and it represents the next evolution of the mobile ecosystem."
Branch recently announced $15 million in Series A financing co-led by leading venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and Ben Narasin, with participation from Pejman Mar Ventures, Zach Coelius, Cowboy Ventures and TriplePoint Ventures.
Branch Metrics differentiates itself in the mobile deep linking space by enabling attribution for every install and personalized, seamless onboarding of new users. They service nearly every type of mobile app category, with some of the most notable being HotelTonight, iHeartRadio, and Instacart.
iOS and Android app developers can use the open source Branch SDKs and public API to generate smart deep links and track data in the company's online platform, all at no cost to the developer or their users. The linking and analytics service is available at https://branch.io.
Each year more than ninety thousand people gather at Mobile World Congress (MWC), the largest event in the mobile technology community. Through four days of events, participants engage in a variety of sessions, including keynotes, technology showcases, and the Mobile Innovation startup pitch competition.
