AUSTIN, Sept. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Investment banking Firm George K. Baum & Company ("GKB") announced today that it has expanded its nationwide presence by opening a Public Finance office in Austin, TX. Brad Angst, Vice President, will focus on broadening opportunities for the Firm throughout the region. With significant experience working with states, municipalities, special districts, utilities, school districts, colleges and universities, independent schools, and other non-profit entities, Mr. Angst will bring George K. Baum & Company's 'client-first' philosophy and execution platform to local borrowers.
Texas Presence
The new Austin, TX office provides an additional resource to GKB's well-established public finance office in Dallas, TX led by Gary Machak, Executive Vice President and Manager of Texas Public Finance. Mr. Angst will join the other members of the Texas team which include: Barton Withrow, Senior Vice President, Jeannie Yarbrough, First Vice President, David Webb, First Vice President and Bob Poswalk, Vice President. They have worked together in Texas providing Financial Advisory services and Underwriting for their myriad clients including: the office of the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, the Texas Veterans' Land Board, Harris County Housing Finance Corporation, the City of Mesquite and El Paso County, Episcopal School of Dallas, Austin Community College, City of Austin, Greenville Independent School District, Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District, Lone Star College and University of Texas.
About Mr. Angst
Mr. Angst first joined George K. Baum & Company in 2008, and rejoined in 2014. He is responsible for providing comprehensive investment banking and financial advisory services, which include the transaction execution and quantitative structuring of tax-exempt and taxable debt financings. Mr. Angst has been involved with more than 175 debt issuances totaling more than $12 billion in par amount using structures which include general obligation bonds, revenue bonds, lease-backed obligations and short-term notes amongst others. Mr. Angst holds a BS in Business Administration with a Finance concentration from Colorado State University. As a professional, he has completed additional education which includes Governmental Accounting, Business Law and financial analysis of local governments. Mr. Angst currently holds Series 7 and Series 63 licenses.
