Bradford County Couple Wins $300,000 from PA Lottery Instant Ticket
WYALUSING, Pa., June 17 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Kenneth and Tina Walter, of Towanda, Bradford County, won $300,000 from the Pennsylvania Lottery's $3 Million Gold Nugget instant game.
Lottery officials today presented a ceremonial check to the couple at Smokin' Joe's Tobacco Shop in Wyalusing, where the ticket was purchased. The store will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
The Walters, who have been married 25 years, work at the Cargill plant in Wyalusing. They play instant games, Mega Millions and Powerball regularly.
"My husband doesn't normally buy the more expensive scratch-offs, but the clerk asked him to buy the last one in the pack, so she wouldn't have to count it anymore," said Mrs. Walter. "It turned out that was the one worth $300,000."
The Walters plan to invest a portion of the money, pay off their mortgage and other debts, help their family and make some home improvements.
$3 Million Gold Nugget is a $25 instant game. When it was introduced in June 2009, the game had six top prizes of $3 million and 30 prizes from $100,000 to $300,000. One of the $3 million top prizes is still unclaimed, two prizes of $300,000 have not been claimed, and three prizes of $100,000 are unclaimed. The odds of winning a $300,000 prize in $3 Million Gold Nugget are 1-in-480,000, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1-in-3.09.
