BPSA Awards Training and Education Grants to 3 University-Based Centers for Bio-Processing Skills Enhancements
Honored recipients include North Carolina State, Texas A&M, Worcester Polytechnic Institute
WASHINGTON, Sept. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Bio-Process Systems Alliance (BPSA), the national trade association of the single-use bio-processing industry, is pleased to announce that North Carolina State's Biomanufacturing Training & Education Center (BTEC), Texas A&M's National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing (NCTM), and Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Biomanufacturing Education and Training Center (BETC) are the recipients of scholarships issued through the Jerold Martin Legacy Scholarship Fund for 2017.
Established in 2015, the scholarship fund honors retired BPSA Chairman Emeritus Jerry Martin of Pall Corporation, a champion of BPSA and the single-use industry. The scholarship supports the education and training of a skilled single-use technology workforce for the rapidly growing single-use manufacturing sector.
"BPSA will continue to partner with the grant award winners in 2018 to address the challenges of educating and sustaining a skilled work force, which includes laboratory workers, bench technicians and business leaders. We have entered a time-frame when there is more demand for skilled workers than a qualified supply of that needed talent, and the single-use industry is certainly not alone in trying to address this talent deficit" said Kevin Ott, Executive Director of BPSA.
