BPI group Expands Role of Chicago Executive Jay Scherer
Scherer to Join Global Board of Directors and Co-Lead BPI group's Institute for Leadership
CHICAGO, April 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- BPI group, (bpigroupus.com) has announced that Jay Scherer, managing partner, has been appointed to the Global Board of Directors for BPI group, and will co-lead the BPI group Institute for Leadership.
BPI group is a leading global management and HR consulting firm with 2,000 employees and offices in 40 countries. Its Global Board of Directors is comprised of 12 senior leaders who work together to define the company's global strategy.
In addition to his role on the board, Scherer will co-lead the BPI group Institute for Leadership, the firm's research and innovation arm, which was established in 2009.
Through collaboration with academic institutions, consulting firms and business groups, the BPI group Institute for Leadership aims to identify and close the gaps between leadership theory and practice. With more than 20 years of experience in coaching Fortune 500 executives, Scherer brings valuable insight to the Institute.
"We believe that everyone deserves a great leader," Scherer said. "There are so many leadership models in the world, and yet, so few great leaders. Our hope for the BPI group Institute for Leadership is to create an open forum between academia, consulting and business, so that original research and best practices can be practically applied in business, quickly."
Scherer emphasizes that his current role of overseeing the firm's leadership development and executive solutions practices will not change. "I'll continue to work closely with our practice leaders in Chicago on a daily basis," he added.
"Jay is a passionate leader and has a strong desire to help clients succeed," noted Juan-Luis Goujon, president and CEO of BPI group, North America. "In this expanded role, he will bring a valuable global perspective to our U.S.-based clients."
Scherer has worked with hundreds of organizations and leaders in a variety of circumstances related to succession, high-potential development, performance improvement and leader assimilation. He was co-founder of Scherer Schneider Paulick, LLC, a leading coaching and career management firm in the Midwest, which was acquired by BPI group in 2007. His early career experience includes leadership positions with Amoco and GATX Corporation, as well as a Chicago-based HR consulting firm where he managed complex, large-scale restructuring engagements.
