BPC's "Lip Service" Video Highlights Rhetoric on Entitlement Reform
WASHINGTON, June 20, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- This week the Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) released the fifth video in its "Lip Service" campaign, highlighting the type of rhetoric used by both parties in recent years on the hot-button topic of entitlements. While last year's bipartisan budget deal temporarily shifted focus from the national debt and deficits, the issue of reforming Social Security and Medicare will likely surface again in the coming years, particularly as baby boomers age and entitlement spending rises.

"These are critical programs for countless Americans, and our nation's changing demographics have created an enormous challenge," said BPC Senior Fellow and former Senator Olympia Snowe, who leads BPC's Citizens campaign. "It is imperative we protect and strengthen Social Security and Medicare so that they are sustainable over the long term."
