Bozzuto Homes Breaks Ground on Towson Green, Bringing 121 Townhomes to Downtown Towson
Neighborhood Offers Eco-Friendly Design, Construction, and Living
GREENBELT, Md., Feb. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Bozzuto Homes, a subsidiary of The Bozzuto Group of companies, today announced that the company has commenced construction on Towson Green, a new traditional neighborhood development consisting of 121 for-sale townhomes on nine acres in the heart of Towson, MD in Baltimore County.
Located between Towsontown Boulevard and East Burke Avenue just east of York Road, Towson Green is within easy walking distance to Towson Town Center's numerous stores and restaurants, and minutes from downtown Baltimore and the Inner Harbor.
Townhomes will be offered in four different floor plans, all with garages and some with up to four bedrooms, and will start in the low to mid $300's. A community sales center will open to the public in early March.
"We are thrilled to begin work on what will be a remarkable community," said Tom Baum, president, Bozzuto Homes, Inc. "Not only will Towson Green offer the comforts of suburban living combined with the conveniences of an urban location, but homeowners will have the opportunity to live in a community that respects, and enhances, the environment in which it was built."
Towson Green is being built to achieve the NAHB National Green Building Standard™ Silver Level and will be one of the most environmentally-conscious communities in Maryland, offering sustainable design, construction, and finishes, as well as ENERGY STAR appliances. All of the homes will be ENERGY STAR certified.
The community will include pocket parks and a tot lot, but the central amenity will be a rain garden – a bio-retention area consisting of aquatic plantings that will treat stormwater runoff – complete with walkways and benches.
In addition, Bozzuto is working with the Chesapeake Fund, a non-profit organization that works to reduce the amount of the Chesapeake Bay's two biggest pollutants – nitrogen and phosphorous – flowing into local streams and waterways by evaluating the development's output and mitigation efforts; providing recommendations on project designs; and offering eco-friendly landscape maintenance advice for homeowners.
Towson Green lies within Baltimore County's Towson Commercial Revitalization District, and as a result, qualifies for a Revitalization Property Tax Credit, a benefit that Bozzuto Homes is passing along to homebuyers. Under this program, homeowners will benefit from a significant reduction in their real estate tax bills for a period of five to ten years.
Financing for Towson Green consists of a $5.3 million ADC loan and a $5 million construction loan, both of which were provided by M&T Bank.
