Boys & Girls Clubs of America-Los Angeles County Alliance Honored 28 Local Boys & Girls Clubs' 2011-2012 Youths of the Year
LOS ANGELES, March 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Boys & Girls Clubs of America–Los Angeles County Alliance honored 28 local Boys & Girls Clubs' Youth of the Year winners on March 15, 2011 at the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles. Violet Miehle of Boys & Girls Club of Malibu and Dennis Ojogho of Salesian Boys & Girls Club of Los Angeles were selected to serve as Co-LA County Youths of the Year and will be eligible to enter the State of California competition, and can eventually proceed to Regional and National competition.
The Boys & Girls of America Youth of the Year program is designed to promote and recognize outstanding teens' service to Club and community, academic performance, and contributions to family. One youth is selected to represent his or her local Boys & Girls Club organization and join their counterparts from across the country to enter the National Youth of the Year scholarship program.
There are currently 28 Boys & Girls Clubs organizations in Los Angeles County serving over 100,000 youth annually in 112 neighborhoods. Once selected as Youth of the Year, each winner begins a one-year term as the teen spokesperson for all their respective Boys & Girls Club members by taking part in community events and activities.
