Boyd Gaming Appoints Richard Flaherty to Board of Directors

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Boyd Gaming Corporation (NYSE: BYD) today announced that Richard Flaherty has been appointed to the Company's board of directors.

Flaherty is the retired Dean of the Eberhardt School of Business at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, a position he held from September 2008 to July 2010. Prior to that time, Flaherty served for eight years as Dean of the College of Business at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Prior to his time with UNLV, Flaherty served on the faculty of Arizona State University for 21 years, including five years as Director of the School of Accountancy. He also served on the accounting faculties of Oklahoma State University and the University of Illinois. He holds a bachelor's degree, master's degree and Ph.D. from the University of Kansas.

Flaherty's appointment expands the Company's board to 12 members, including seven independent directors.
