BOWE BELL + HOWELL Ranked as 30th Best Company for Training in U.S.
Makes Training Top 125 for Ninth Year
DURHAM, N.C., Feb. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- BOWE BELL + HOWELL (BBH) has achieved a new "personal best" in the rankings of the top 125 companies for leadership in employer-sponsored training and development programs. BBH University earned the #30 position, the highest ranking in the company's history. BBH has been named to the prestigious list nine out of the 11 years that the competition has been conducted.
The Training Top 125 is sponsored by Training magazine, the primary business publication for learning and development. The magazine announced the rankings at the annual Training 2011 Conference and Expo held on Feb. 7 in San Diego.
"We are thrilled to have our program achieve this outstanding ranking," said John Tarascio, chief operating officer for BBH. "We are equally proud to have a shared commitment to training with many of our customers who also made this list, including several named to the top ten." A full list of the winning organizations is included in the Training magazine press release.
"The award validates and recognizes our investment in creating a robust curriculum that includes technical learning as well as leadership and business skills training," said Jeff Gruber, BBH vice president of Human Resources. "Through our high-quality programs, we equip our teams and our customers' operators and technicians to succeed."
In 2010, BBH University provided the following:
- 7,148 hours of classroom technical and business training conducted for 1,106 associates, representing 187 unique classes
- 2,708 operator training hours conducted for 573 customers, representing 137 sessions held at customer sites
- 1,273 hours of e-learning accessed by 2,234 students
"We are continually refining and improving our course offerings and programs to better support the changing needs of our clients," said Lana Chandra, executive director of Organizational Development and the BBH University. "In 2010, we placed additional emphasis on developing and integrating more e-learning and blended learning into our offerings. We recognize that our customers' requirements and delivery preferences change, and we also find that our associates benefit from having on-demand training. Combined with core classroom training, we provide the skills and training to optimize the performance of our systems and solutions, and enhance overall productivity and efficiency."
The Training Top 125 ranking is based on myriad benchmarking statistics such as total training budget; percentage of payroll; number of training hours per employee program; goals, evaluation, measurement and workplace surveys; hours of training per employee annually; and detailed formal programs. The ranking is determined by assessing a range of qualitative and quantitative factors, including financial investment in employee development, the scope of development programs, and how closely such development efforts are linked to business goals and objectives.
