Boston Strong: On Third Anniversary of the Boston Marathon Bombing, GoFundMe Proudly Supports WBZ's Yadires Nova-Salcedo and the Arredondo Family Foundation
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., April 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- GoFundMe, the world's largest personal fundraising site, today proudly announced its support for Yadires Nova-Salcedo's campaign and the Arredondo Family Foundation.
On the third anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing, GoFundMe donated $3,000 to the Arredondo Family Foundation through Ms. Nova-Salcedo's GoFundMe campaign. Today's donation will help Ms. Nova-Salcedo reach her fundraising goal and we encourage other individuals to support this important cause.
The mission of the Arredondo Family Foundation is to provide a helping hand to those experiencing a tragedy and to provide education on matters relating to military, veterans, military families, and the issue of suicide. On April 15, 2013, that's exactly what Carlos Arredondo did. Carlos was a spectator at the Boston Marathon when, after tragedy struck, he ran to help Jeff Bauman with whom he has formed a lasting bond.
"Carlos is an inspiration to all of us. We're honored to provide a platform to support the Arredondo Family Foundation through Yadires' GoFundMe campaign. I applaud Yadires and all of the campaign organizers running in the Boston Marathon for taking the initiative, starting a campaign, and positively impacting their community," said Rob Solomon, GoFundMe CEO.
"Yadires Nova-Salcedo is a born optimist whom I have known several years as a journalist. She is now a board member for the Arredondo Family Foundation (AFF) and a friend. She chose to run her first marathon in Boston for AFF because she knows how a military-related suicide has impacted my family. Yadires' enthusiasm via fundraising through GoFundMe as well as her courage will aid other families struggling with similar experiences," said Carlos Arredondo.
"I'm very happy and excited that GoFundMe is supporting my Boston Marathon run, benefitting the Arredondo Family Foundation. I truly hope that this will inspire others to help support this wonderful cause," said Yadires Nova-Salcedo.
