Boston Residents Discover Their Power to End Lupus at Walk to End Lupus Now Event
Boston Common Will Draw Nearly 1,000 Walkers
BOSTON, Oct. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- This Saturday, October 22, 2016 the Lupus Foundation of America will host its 5th anniversary Walk to End Lupus Now® event on the Boston Common. Nearly 1,000 people are expected to turnout at the event and experience first-hand the power of the movement to end lupus.
Lupus has no known cause and no known cure, but affects an estimated 1.5 million Americans and 5 million people worldwide. Despite its widespread prevalence, lupus research funding and awareness of its brutal impact remain low.
"While we work to solve the cruel mystery of lupus, we must ensure that all Boston residents affected by lupus have access to the resources and support they need," said Michael Satterwhite, Boston Walk to End Lupus Now event chair. "By coming together to raise funds and awareness, Boston residents are showing their power and support for people with lupus, families, friends and entire the community of those suffering with lupus. In just 5 years, Walk to End Lupus Now Boston has raised half a million dollars!"
The Walk to End Lupus Now is made possible with the generous support of its sponsors including Biogen, and various local sponsors. To register or to make a donation, visit walktoendlupusnow.org/boston.
