Boston Plastic Surgery Now Offering CoolSculpting, Plus "Dual" Sculpting Option for Faster Treatments
Non-invasive option with 35 minute treatment time offers lasting solution to reduce stubborn fat pockets
BOSTON, May 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- As summer approaches, the desire to look great in warm-weather attire is on the minds of many men and women in Boston. For individuals whose confidence is affected by bothersome fat pockets, Boston Plastic Surgery has a number of options, including a proven non-surgical method: board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Fouad Samaha is proud to announce the addition of CoolSculpting non-invasive fat reduction to their offerings.
"My priority is to provide patients safe, effective treatment options that achieve long-lasting results. Therefore, I take time to vet a new technology to ensure it will deliver on its promises before adopting it in my own practice." He states, "With 10 years of clinical use and substantial evidence backing its safety and efficacy, my staff and I are confident in CoolSculpting's ability to safely target unwanted fat without surgery or downtime. Our patients are already raving about the ease of treatment as well as their results."
CoolSculpting uses a proprietary technology called "cryolipolysis" to selectively freeze fat cells in the treatment area. CoolSculpting quickly chills tissues just to the point where fat cells freeze (fat freezes at a higher temperature than skin, muscle and nerve tissue), effectively destroying fat cells while leaving other tissues unharmed. The affected fat cells are metabolized as waste, and results appear gradually over 2 to 3 months following treatment. According to clinical studies, patients can experience up to 25% reduction in thickness of the targeted fat deposits after one treatment.
Cryolipolysis was developed in 2008 by doctors at Harvard University, where Dr. Samaha has served on the clinical faculty for more than 20 years, and received FDA clearance in 2010. He emphasizes that CoolSculpting has improved significantly in recent years, thanks to an updated cup-style applicator design, called CoolAdvantage. "The new CoolAdvantage applicator is a major improvement over the old clamp-style applicator, which not only limited the size and location of treatment area, but also required a doctor to press a patient's flesh between two cooling plates, which was uncomfortable for some patients."
Benefits of CoolSculpting with the CoolAdvantage applicator include:
- Faster 35-minute treatment time (compared to 1 hour with previous versions)
- Minimal discomfort, due to the gentler vacuum suction mechanism that secures the applicator to the treatment area
- Fat reduction over a greater surface area, due to the improved applicator design
- Ability to treat smaller, "non-pinchable" areas of fat, such as the upper arms, inner thighs, chin, and bra rolls in addition to larger areas such as the belly, hips and outer thighs
"Dual" Sculpting can treat two areas at once for greater overall fat loss
To offer Boston CoolSculpting patients a more personalized experience, Boston Plastic Surgery has two CoolSculpting machines to treat two separate areas simultaneously—an option they call "Dual" Sculpting. Dr. Samaha highlights key advantages of Dual Sculpting:
- Patients can reduce fat in different areas of the body without additional treatment time
- Patients who want to reduce on both sides of the body (i.e., upper arms, hips or thighs) can achieve more even fat loss and enjoy their final results sooner
Dr. Samaha notes that Dual Sculpting is a big help for busy patients as well as people with multiple areas of concern. "Patients who are bothered by one main 'problem area' of fat often have other smaller areas that, if given the choice, they would happily reduce as well. With Dual Sculpting, we can treat additional areas of stubborn fat in the same appointment."
