Boston Children's Hospital Announces Global Pediatric Innovation Summit + Awards 2015 Featured Speakers
Martine Rothblatt, PhD, MBA, J.D., Siddhartha Mukherjee, MD, PhD, and Aneesh Chopra to focus on precision pediatrics and innovation in pediatric medicine.
BOSTON, July 8, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Boston Children's Hospital announces the featured speakers for the Global Pediatric Innovation Summit + Awards 2015 Nov. 9 + 10 at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston.
For the third year, Boston Children's Hospital will convene the top minds in innovation to spur dialogue, build collaboration and accelerate solutions from idea to market. Taking on Tomorrow is designed to address unmet needs, solve problems and seize opportunities in pediatric health care. A vibrant mix of thought leaders from around the globe will come together for a productive exchange about the most pressing pain points in pediatric medicine. The theme of the 2015 Summit is Precision Pediatrics.
Renowned oncologist, cancer researcher and Pulitzer Prize-winning author of "The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer," Siddhartha Mukherjee, MD, PhD will present the opening keynote. His credentials include assistant professor of medicine at Columbia University, physician at Columbia/NYU Presbyterian and fellow at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. His book has won numerous awards and was featured in the 2015 Ken Burns PBS documentary by the same name.
Taking the Summit stage on Monday, November 9 at 3:00 p.m. is Martine Rothblatt, PhD, MBA, J.D. She created and served as chair and CEO of Sirius Satellite Radio in 1990. When her youngest child was diagnosed with a rare disease, Martine left Sirius to search for a cure. She started the biotechnology company United Therapeutics in 1996 and serves as its chair and CEO. She also serves as the Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lung Rx Inc. (also known as Lung LLC).
Co-founder and executive vice president of Hunch Analytics, Aneesh Chopra, will present the midday keynote address. Hunch Analytics is a "hatchery," incubating ideas that improve the productivity of health and education markets. Chopra served as the first U.S. Chief Technology Officer from 2009-12. His book, "Innovative State: How New Technologies can Transform Government," focuses on improved public/private collaboration. He was named to Modern Healthcare's list of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare in 2011.
